The turbidity, or cloudiness, of a sample is often considered to be an excellent first line assessment of water quality. The HTTurb portable turbidity meter is a simple to use method to identify water turbidity accurately and immediately at source. High turbidity levels can be directly linked to higher risks of gastro-intestinal diseases due to the suspended particles acting as substrate on which to grow, and interfering with chlorine disinfection. In addition, these solids in the water can also protect bacteria from UV water sterilisation.
